Dear colleagues!

Please help us with your knowledge and advice!

From a friendly lab we have received order to supply systems for electric arc testing of fabrics and garments, based on American Standards ASTM F1958 and F1959 tests. (Like on picture)

To my regret, I could not find a company which could deliver (or build) of such kind equipment.
If you have any information about this subject – please mail me!
I will be very grateful!

This test equipment is very specialized for ASTM F1958 and ASTM F1959. Drawings do it no justice.

The lab we use in Canada is Kinectrics is one of about four in the world which do the testing and the only accredited lab in North America. The energy supply is not shown (which is the expensive part). Some labs are high power labs, others are high current labs and one has been build just barely able to do the medium and low level testing.

Only Kinectrics does both the fabrics up to 100 cal/cm² and arc blast blankets. ArcWear does arc flash testing there every month for a full week and provides all the textile testing required to certify fabric and garments to ASTM F1506 and NFPA 2112 through our FlashCert process.

Let us know if you need help on arc testing or flame resistant textile testing.
